Mae Ryan is an incredibly talented Director and Photographer whom I met through some friends in L.A. At the time she was after a job at the New York Times. We created a logo/brand and portfolio website to help give her work a nice home.

The Task
Create a simple logo that captures the motion of Mae’s work in a static display. Then build a color scheme and website based on that.

The Process
The logo design process was iteration heavy but allowed for a deep exploration of many shapes and forms for Mae’s logo. After landing in a great place we established a solid color palette and typography.
Then, I jammed on a handful of wireframes for us to explore layouts. After that it was time for the final design and then CMS integration.

The Solution
In the past Mae mentioned the site really helped her nail down the NYT job. That was our goal and I’ve always been thrilled to hear that.
While the final product was released a handful of moons ago we will update reel every now and then.
The original website was built using early version of Kirby CMS. Recently, we updated the most recent version of Kirby. It’s a really great CMS!
